| K. Wusu Wypa |
Raphael Curtis Owusu known professionally as K-Wypa is a Ghanaian musician whose work reflects lived experience, self-awareness, and resilience. His music blends raw honesty with thoughtful lyricism, creating records that connect emotionally while remaining grounded in real life.
K-Wypa grew up around music, listening to all types of genres. Jazz, Soul, Highlife, Borga Highlife, Hip-hop, Reggae, Dancehall, Pop, and RnB.
Beginning his journey with a deep appreciation for music as both expression and purpose, he gradually transitioned from casual creation to a more professional approach.
K-Wypa maintains full creative control by handling both the artistic and production sides of his work, ensuring that each project aligns with his identity, sound, and long-term vision.
His contributions span solo projects, production credits, and collaborative efforts that have helped shape the sound and identity of Ghana street rap.
One of K-Wypa’s most significant projects is the EP From Kumasi With Rap (originally released on 15-09-2017).
The project captured the raw realities, language, and attitude of the city, presenting Kumasi not just as a location but as a distinct hip-hop mindset.
From Kumasi With Rap helped define a sound that many emerging artists from the city would later draw inspiration from.
At the early stages of his career, he co-founded Gangalia Connect, a creative collective made up of individuals with diverse talents. The collective served as a foundational platform for collaboration, community building, and creative experimentation. As his career progressed and his vision became more structured, he later established Osyn Media Ent. alongside his brother Glenn "Yaw Siano" Owusu, creating a more formal and professional framework for his independent record label.
K-Wusu has collaborated with notable voices in Ghanaian hip-hop, earning growing recognition among fellow musicians, producers, and industry players for his consistency and authenticity. His music resonates with listeners navigating real-life pressures, ambition, faith, and survival.
His journey continues to reflect a clear focus on impact, cultural representation, and building a sustainable music career from the ground up onto bigger stages.
