On November 10, 2022, Hajia 4Real was arrested in the UK. She was extradited from the United Kingdom on May 12, 2023, for her role in a romance scheme.
She was charged with a six-count indictment.
On February 21, 2024, she reached a plea agreement with the US and pled guilty to conspiracy to receive stolen money before US Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave.

This specific charge carried a lower maximum sentence compared to the original multi-count indictment she faced, which included wire fraud and money laundering charges that could have resulted in up to 20 years in prison.
On June 28, 2024, Hajia 4Real was sentenced by U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken to one year and one day (12 months and a day) in prison due to the plea deal she had taken initially.
Additionally, she was ordered to serve three years of supervised release, forfeit $216,475, and pay restitution in the amount of $1,387,458.
She served her time at the Federal Detention Centre in Philadelphia. She was released on May 22, 2025, and embarked on a voluntary self-deportation" back to Ghana, avoiding further ICE detention.
As it stands, Hajia 4Real is still on supervised release by the US.
