Just when many Ghanaians thought the biggest night in music was heading to Kumasi for the very first time, organizers of TGMA have officially confirmed a return to the Grand Arena in Accra.

After weeks of uncertainty surrounding venue issues, speculation, and public debate, the announcement has finally brought clarity but it has also left many entertainment lovers asking one important question:

Did Ghana miss the chance to make history?

For some weeks now, conversations around the TGMA were no longer about who would win Artiste of the Year or who would deliver the best performance. Instead, the spotlight shifted to the struggle organizers faced in securing a suitable venue for the prestigious event.

With concerns surrounding the availability of the usual venue due to renovation and structural arrangements, many believed this year’s edition could finally move away from Accra. The entertainment industry became flooded with discussions, opinions, and excitement over the possibility of Kumasi hosting Ghana’s biggest music awards night.

The modern facilitybwas seen by many as more than just an alternative venue. To supporters, it represented a new era for Ghana’s entertainment industry an era where major national events are shared across regions and not centered only in Accra.

Social media users, music fans, and entertainment analysts quickly began imagining what a Kumasi-hosted TGMA would look like. The idea alone generated excitement. Hotels, businesses, fashion brands, transport operators, and local creatives in Kumasi were all expected to benefit massively if the city hosted the event.

But despite the growing interest, organizers have now confirmed that the TGMA will remain in Accra, citing production quality, seating capacity, and technical convenience as major reasons behind the decision.

Indeed, the Grand Arena still remains one of the few venues in Ghana capable of handling an event of such magnitude. From stage design and lighting to broadcasting and celebrity accommodation, the demands of the TGMA are enormous.

Yet the entire situation has exposed a bigger national conversation Ghana’s entertainment industry is growing rapidly, but infrastructure development appears to be struggling to keep pace.

The temporary possibility of Kumasi hosting the TGMA proved one thing clearly: Ghanaians are ready to see national entertainment events move beyond Accra.

Perhaps this year was not the moment. But one thing is certain the conversation has already started, and in the near future, Kumasi may no longer be just a suggestion. It may become the next entertainment capital to host Ghana’s most prestigious music night.

Until then, all eyes return to Accra as fans prepare for another unforgettable edition of the TGMA.
